My pens are handcrafted from wood and precious materials and require special care to keep them in good condition.
- Keep your pen in the case that comes with it:
Whether you’re transporting your pen or you’ve left it in a bag, you should keep it in its case at all times. This will protect it from scratches and friction, so it won’t get damaged as quickly. Don’t forget to cap your pen securely so that the tip doesn’t dry out.
- For rollerball pens:
Always remember to put the cap back on to prevent the ink from evaporating. If your pen is left uncapped, it will take a few days for the ink to evaporate completely. When replacing the cartridge, take care to put the small spring back inside the barrel: this will cushion your refill.
- For fountain pens:
Regular maintenance of the nib is necessary to prevent the ink from drying out and clogging the feed.
Here’s what you should do:
- First, protect your hands so the ink doesn’t stain your skin.
- Unscrew the nib section from the rest of the pen.
- Unscrew the nib from the section.
- Place the parts in a small container filled with lukewarm or cold water.
- Use a small brush and clean gently, replacing the water several times, until the ink is completely dissolved.
- Wipe all the parts with a soft cloth or paper towel (not a dryer).
- Put the nib back in its section, insert your ink cartridge, and then prime your pen.
By carrying out these steps on a regular basis, you’ll keep your fountain pen in excellent condition, ensuring that it lasts a very long time.
Cleaning the metal and wooden parts of your pen:
For all pens made of wood, resins or other materials, you can use a small polishing cloth to clean the metal and wooden parts. Occasional polishing will help keep your pen shiny.
NEVER USE CORROSIVE PRODUCTS TO CLEAN YOUR PEN.
This will remove the layers of finishes and will damage your pen.
If your pen has stains that can’t be removed with polishing, dampen a cloth with lukewarm water and neutral soap and gently rub your pen. If you have any doubts, please feel free to write to me at the following address: mickael.priaure@orange.fr.
Refilling your pen:
On my website, you’ll find all the refills you need for each of the pens I sell. You can also find them in specialist stationery stores.
How to refill your pen:
Fountain pen:
Unscrew the grip section from the barrel to gain direct access to the cartridge. Remove the empty cartridge and insert the full one, pressing it firmly into place. Screw the grip section back into the barrel.
Rollerball pen:
Unscrew the grip section from the barrel to gain direct access to the cartridge. Watch out for the small spring in the lower part of the barrel. Insert a new cartridge and check that the spring is firmly in place. Screw the grip section back into the barrel.
Ballpoint pen:
There are two types of refills and two ways of proceeding.
For quarter-turn ball systems (simple ballpoint pens)
- Hold the upper and lower parts of your pen firmly. Pull the two parts apart to access the cartridge. Unscrew the used refill and replace it with a new one. Put the two parts of your pen back together.
For pens with a click mechanism and some pens with a quarter-turn system (larger models)
- Hold your pen and unscrew the lower or middle part, depending on the model. This will give you access to the cartridge. Unscrew the used refill and replace it with a new one. Screw the two parts of your pen back together.
Some specific models may require that you proceed differently. If you need help, feel free to send me an email at the following address: mickael.priaure@orange.fr.
For mechanical pencils:
Remove the metal part protecting the eraser and then the eraser itself. Insert one piece of lead at a time. Replace the eraser and the metal part and then prime your pencil.
A well-kept pen will last a long time and will bring you many years of happiness and enjoyment :)
